Update: Success!
We did it! Our Gadget Drive raised enough money – ahead of schedule – to buy a new sound and movie system for the orphanage. We’ve posted some photos of the new system, which they bought in a Kabul store from a “very nice store owner” who gave them a great price when he heard it was for an orphanage. The children have already watched The Nutcracker ballet on DVD in their new “movie theatre”. Thanks to all of you who made this possible. Given this success, we’ll be running another Gadget Drive in the future.

Gadget Drive pageWhat’s a gadget drive?

A gadget drive lets you turn your used electronics into cash to support a cause. You can donate:

  • cell phones
  • PDAs;
  • camcorders, digital cameras and camera lenses;
  • notebook computers;
  • external hard drives;
  • gaming consoles and video games;
  • Blu-Ray players and  DVD/Blu-Ray movies;
  • MP3 players and streaming media devices;
  • satellite radios;
  • GPS devices;
  • calculators.

The gadget drives are run using a service provided by Gazelle. Gazelle pays the shipping (within the continental USA) and all the money raised goes to the charity.
