Tonight’s “Making a Difference” segment on NBC Nightly News featured a visit by Brian Williams to Mehan Orphanage. There he interviewed Andeisha Farid, the orphanage director, and filmed some of the children.

We’re hoping this segment will encourage more people to sponsor children and support AFCECO’s exceptional work.

Seems like a miracle! This “Making a Difference” segment on national television has touched people’s hearts so deeply that many new people have pitched in with donations and, even better, we now have a host of new sponsors for these wonderful children. I have been working with AFCECO for several years and currently sponsor 10 children, each of whom I love dearly. And now it seems that this unique program, based on the idea of Afghans helping Afghans, has a great new infusion of caring and love.

The one element that was “missing” is that, before this website existed, there was no good way for sponsors from the U.S. and many other countries to meet each other and share experiences and stories.
The is Our Place. I do hope that all you sponsors new to the problem, along with the “oldtimers” will plunge right in to the forums here with your comments and questions and ideas.

Whee! November 3 is AFCECO “Making a Difference” Part II. Some NBC people spent several hours in the orphanage interviewing more children. Should be lovely and another good opportunity to give people an idea of what these orphanages, and the children themselves, are all about.
